Arabica Coffee<\/span><\/h4>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

The Arabica Coffee Mundo Novo is the result of a natural cross between the Sumatra and Bourbon Vermelho cultivars, found in Mineiros do Tiet\u00ea, S\u00e3o Paulo. The seeds of these coffee plants were planted in Mundo Novo, now Urup\u00eas (SP), where rigorous selections were made between 1943 and 1952 to eliminate defects in the population. These selections led to the creation of the Mundo Novo cultivar, distributed to farmers starting in 1952 and refined by the IAC since 1977.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Experiments in Campinas, Ja\u00fa, and Mococa showed that the best progenies of \u2018Mundo Novo\u2019 produced up to 80% more than the original material, 50% more than the best selections of \u2018Bourbon Amarelo\u2019, 95% more than \u2018Bourbon Vermelho\u2019, and 240% more than \u2018T\u00edpica\u2019. In 1999, lines such as 379\/19 and 376\/4 were registered in the National Register of Cultivars (RNC) as \u2018Mundo Novo IAC 379\/19\u2019 and \u2018Mundo Novo IAC 376-4\u2019.<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
